Seeing the word “austerity” being used in the same sentence as the fiscal cliff tickles me. Not because I find the fiscal tiff humorous, but because the term austerity is usually linked to small poor developing countries that are supposedly ‘saved’ by the World Bank or the IMF. Imagine that…austerity measures in the world’s most powerful country.
